Rock legend Billy Hancock passed away this afternoon his wife Carrie was by his side.
Carrie Hancock says Billy came home on Friday after spending nearly 6 weeks at Georgetown Univ Hospital.
"He wanted to see his cats before he died" Carrie told me. "His cats, guitars and cars, he wanted to see them all one more time."
Carrie and Billy had been together since 2004.
Billy died at a hospital in LaPlata MD after battling liver and kidney failure.
Billy told family he did not want a funeral but rather a celebration of his life with friends like Robert Gordon and Bill Danoff singing, Carrie told me.
That celebration will be scheduled for some time in the Spring. He will be cremated.
"He loved music, he loved his fans and he had so much music he wanted to share." Carrie told me from the hospital room. "He had so many ideas" she said.
On a personal note, I first saw Billy Hancock perform decades ago at the old Childe Harold, it's a performance I'll never forget as he pushed tables out of the way to make room for dancing. He was one of a kind, a we were lucky he was ours.
R.I.P. Billy

Comme bien souvent chez Big Beat, le charme des 80' opère. La pochette est très belle, le feeling excellent. Un très bon album (que je n'avais pas non plus..... Merci.
