Ah, I was just listening to my LP of this the other day. When this came out, it was an all out battle between two upstarts: Steve Earle and Dwight Yoakum. Both were young, charting singles, and were the future of country music. SE got himself in trouble, fell apart, and disappeared. DY stuck it out and made a name for himself. I guess SE did make a comeback years later, and has followers of his political thing, but this LP reminds us of what SE could have been.
